Five Common Ways We Break Our Cell Phones
Having worked in a phone store myself, I’ve seen the experiences of cell phone breakages first hand. I’ve heard it all, from dropping a phone in a river, to chucking it in a fit of rage. Some ways of breaking cell phones are more common than others, so it’s useful to understand the dangers. Breaking The Screen
Arguably the most common way to break a cell phone is to crack the screen. This is especially the case in recent years, as giant-screened smartphones have taken over from what we used to use. These screens are often made from glass, meaning that it doesn’t take a lot to crack them. Water Damage
In recent years, there has been a rise in water-resistant phones, but there aren’t very many that are completely waterproof. We’ve spent years dropping them in our drinks, in ponds, and even in the toilet! There isn’t a whole lot you can do to prevent water damage, so make sure you’re careful! If it happens, make sure you pull the phone out of the water immediately. You can actually use rice to try and dry it out, although you might not be successful!
Connection Breakages
If you’ve suffered from a connection breakage, you don’t have a whole lot to worry about. It’s not going to cost a great deal to repair, and it should be fixed relatively quickly. By this, I’m talking about things like the micro USB connector port that charges your phone. It could also be related to a faulty headphone socket. This can happen for a number of reasons, but it’s easily fixable in most cases.
Data Loss
For whatever reason, your phone could lose its data. A lot of the reasons for this is software based, although sometimes it comes down to human error. Depending on what has happened, depends on whether you’ll be able to get that data back. A great way to prevent this from becoming an issue is to always ensure that data is backed up. You can normally connect your phone to a PC to do this, so make you do so on a regular basis.

One of the most common reasons why people used to enter my store is because their phones had a tendency to do their own thing! Sometimes, they’ll switch off on their own. At others, they’ll lose signal for days at a time. Cell phones often temporarily break, but most of these issues are easy enough to fix. It can be as simple as resetting the phone or taking the battery out in some cases. In others, it might be a software fix or a network update that needs to be installed. In any case, this shouldn’t cost you any money at all in most scenarios.
