Audio-Technica ATH-DSR9BT Wireless Headphone

Audio-Technica has announced its new flagship of high performance over-the-ear wireless headphone – the Audio-Technica ATH-DSR9BT Wireless Headphone at CES 2017. The new headphones are quite unique – wireless headset that does not require a built-in DAC.

DSR9BT headphone is Bluetooth aptX HD enabled and uses a specially designed Trigence Semiconductor Denote chipset to keep the audio signal completely digital from the source to the headphone’s drivers. The DSR9BT have a so-called Pure Digital system that means the headphones’ speakers can respond directly to a digital signal without the need for conversion.

The headphone has a four-core voice coil and feature a diaphragm coated in “diamond-like carbon material,” which may sound like mere fancy talk, but rigid materials like diamond are the best thing to use when trying to create speaker cones that do not distort. The headphone gets memory foam earpads fro added comfort, and touch controls for music playback, pause, volume and answering phone calls.

The new headphone can handle 24-bit/48kHz music over Bluetooth or up to 24-bit/96kHz when connected via a USB cable. Means they can cover codec currently used for audio Bluetooth streaming, and means they’ll work with Android and IOS devices with higher detail than the basic SBC streaming. There is also an NFC support for a straightforward pairing setup as well as touch controls.

The headphone also features LED lights to indicate when paired, which codec is in use and battery life status. The Audio-Technica ATH-DSR9BT Wireless Headphone will be available from February 2017 priced at $499.
