The Best New Technology Coming Out Of Jaguar Land Rover Labs

We are fascinated by car technology. Every year, there are new developments and new gadgets. One of the leaders in this field is Jaguar Land Rover. After joining forces, these two giants of industry have combined their tech teams. The result is an unstoppable alliance of incredible technology. We’re beginning to see the fruits of this coalition in some of the new Land Rover and Jaguar models. Today, we’re going behind the scenes, and seeing what’s coming next.

Remote control driving

There was a scene in Tomorrow Never Dies where James Bond controls his car with a remote control. It was probably the coolest thing we’ve ever seen. And here we are, more than a decade later with the technology within touching distance. Land Rover have just developed a fully functional remote control system for its Range Rover. Using a touch screen smartphone, you can reverse your car out of the garage. Or use it to park in a tricky spot. Fantastic technology.

Autonomous driving

Autonomous driving is something we’ve heard a lot about over the last decade. Even Apple and Google are joining the party. But, it’s the established companies that are making the most headway. The guys at Hunters Landrover told us that the next generation of Range Rovers will feature this tech. Not only that, but some of the existing cars already have a version of this functionality. For example, the Range Rover Sport will automatically steer you back into your lane if you veer too far.

Infotainment systems

This is a system that initially came from Jaguar research. Now, we certainly trust Jaguar to create something refined, sophisticated, and luxurious. This is no different. The modern infotainment gadgets in the Range Rover feature touch screen technology. They are also connected to wifi and 4G, so you can tap into your existing music streaming library. They also feature high-definition screens.

Smartphone integration

Considering that smartphones have been on the market for ten years, it’s strange that integration hasn’t come sooner. Well, it’s here now, and no-one does it better than Land Rover. The modern Range Rover integrates seamlessly with your hand held technology. It connects as soon as you are inside the car, so you can take calls wirelessly. You can access your music and contact list. You can even use your phone to track the car if it has been stolen. In the coming years, cars and phones will integrate even further with each other.

‘Ghost car’ technology

The infamous ‘ghost car’ technology isn’t on the market just yet, but it will be soon. It’s something that is typically associated with video games, but it’s coming to the real world. In simple terms, the car will display a ‘ghost car’ on a digital windscreen in front of you. You will then follow the car, as a means of navigation. We’re sure you’ll agree, this is fascinating new technology, and we can’t wait to see it in action.

Jaguar Land Rover are leading the field when it comes to new technology. Exciting times!
