MSI Reveal GeForce GTX 1070 Gaming X With Strong 1440p Performance

MSI took the wraps off the GeForce GTX 1070, its latest graphics cards (GPU) to the world. As Nvidia promised, the GTX 1070 is indeed faster than both the Titan X and the GTX 980 Ti, and by some margin: as much as 12 percent in some tests. Just a couple of months ago GeForce GTX 980ti cards cost upwards of £500/$650, but the GTX 1070 costs just £399/$449 at the high end.

Well, there’s an additional 256 CUDA cores this time round, a higher boost clock running up to 1683 MHz (1797 MHz on the MSI Variant in OC Mode) and an additional 4GB of GDDR5 VRAM.

The smaller, more efficient TSMC 16nm FinFET manufacturing process lets the Nvidia ramp up performance to Titan-beating levels, while keeping the TDP down to a reasonable 150W.

The GTX 1070 features MSI’s brand new Twin Frozr VI cooling solution featuring MSI’s TORX Fan 2.0 tech. The new technology claimed to generate 22% more air pressure for ‘better cooling performance while further reducing noise levels.’ The fans are equipped with Double Ball Bearings, which MSI claims will ensure ‘smooth, lasting and silent operation.’ Connected to the large heatsink are 8 mm copper heat-pipes with a squared shape at the bottom, this said to enable for optimal heat transfer from the solid nickel-plated copper baseplate.

The card also includes RGB LEDs, and measures 279 x 140 x 42 mm. Their new Sea Hawk X continues their partnership with Corsair and includes a 120 mm Corsair Hydro H55 series liquid cooler. This new card also sports a black and silver shroud design with a small blower fan for cooling the VRM.
